18TH Street (between Market and Hattie) is a mess

Thanks to PG&E, 18TH street between Market and Hattie has been a total mess since September. Before starting such work, could we have some information from the City or the DPW (http://bsm.sfdpw.org/maps/ProposedPaving.pdf) ? The local newsletter/newspaper should be notified.

It seems like 18TH street is going to get much more work done in 2012, from Diamond to Noe, if this map (http://bsm.sfdpw.org/maps/ProposedPaving.pdf) is accurate.

Mayoral Candidates Forum Monday, August 8, 7-9:30pm, Castro Theatre - Member Questions Needed

EVNA is partnering with Duboce Triangle Neighborhood Association (DTNA) to host a mayoral candidates forum. This is sure to be a popular and crowded event, doors open at 6:30. EVNA/DTNA has obtained commitments from nine mayoral candidates to participate. This is a great opportunity for you to question and hear what the candidates intend to bring to their administrations.

A Lot of Problems

We continue to have problems with the parking lot off of Castro Street (adjacent to the Castro Theater). The lot is isolated from Castro Street behind a group of businesses and Hartford Street residences and provides a seemingly private area.

On any given night, as early as 11:00 pm and as late as 3:30 am, there are major disturbances in the parking lot. These range from drunken parties with loud laughing, screaming and car stereos blasting to what appear to be gang related altercations.

Street Noise

The neighborhood is being besieged nearly 20 hours a day by motorcycles, cars and taxicabs with missing, modified or broken mufflers. This is in addition to cars blasting music with thundering bass.

Most of this activity occurs after dark but is by no means limited to it. A lot of this is just plain cruising the neighborhood with many of these vehicles passing by the same point multiple times in just an hour.
