"311's" refers to the section of the San Francisco Planning Code which requires notification of neighbors that meet certain thresholds.

311's are sent to all residents within 150 feet of the proposed project plus numerous neighborhood groups.

The great majority of 311's are inconsequential, however, a few required consideration to ensure the project is in compliance with the code and residential guidelines.

Neighbors or neighborhood groups who believe that the project does not comply with the code or guidelines have an option to file a discretionary review within the 30 day 311 notice period should a solution with the developer not be reached.
