Hi ,

EVNA Members and Neighbors!

Thanks to those who came out Wednesday night to the Eureka Valley Neighborhood Association's (EVNA) Open House for Members and the Curious and the Questioning. Over 50 people attended! Pretty amazing to see such interest,  passion and willingness to help and belong. I appreciate hearing your ideas on the issues that EVNA can focus on to provide solutions for improving our shared experience as neighbors.

Everyone agreed that coming out from behind our keyboard and meeting face to face goes a long way to humanize those who share our neighborhood.

A big thank you and "welcome" to all who renewed and registered for membership.

Let's also thank those who make the meeting possible- the board members and spouses who set up, provided treats, and gave their wisdom and input. EVNA is nothing without its volunteers. Thanks Rob, Mary Edna, Bonnie, Loic, Steve and Edwin.

And finally, thank you John for the update on the Pink Triangle Park gardening group- exciting news, there, too!

I hope the meeting helped with everyone's understanding of the mission and goals of EVNA, its organizational structure, and the process and positions available for those who want to step into leadership and volunteering.

Our general meetings will provide the forum for sharing stories, getting educated on issues, coordinating outreach and resources, and giving shape to the scope and efforts of the committees. We need every hand to accomplish our work.

Where to go from here?

Save these dates and join us to observe and participate:

EVNA Board Meeting (for board members, general members, and the curious)
September 12 @ 6:30pm
Chase Community Room
15th and Market Streets

EVNA General Membership Meeting
September 27 @ 7:00pm
Harvey Milk Civil Rights Academy
19th at Collingwood Sts.

I encourage you to sign up as members, join a committee, or run for a board seat. Let me know where you'd like to help, and what skills and/or resources you can contribute.

In the meantime, let's keep the conversation going. Please, reach out to me or any board member you may have connected with at the meeting and tell us about how you want to get plugged in to give of your time, talents and resources to help with our mission to make a better neighborhood for us all.

Looking forward to knowing you or email anytime, but I'll definitely see you in September!
